Family Friday | by Amarillo Newborn Wedding & Family Milestone Photographer, Jessi Norvell
Being an Amarillo Family Photographer means a lot of things... one of the most exciting of which is that I get to have sessions in the beautiful Palo Duro Canyon. Seriously, it doesn't get much better than this!
*Don't miss the video at the end of this post, by the way... it's about 3 minutes and worth watching!*
Photography remembers the little details, long after you have forgotten everything.
I love that quote. I've said it before and I'll share it again... Photography is so important. As parents, we tend to take lots of snapshots of our kids. Making messes, funny faces, singing, digging, jumping, and on and on. We realize how precious and fleeting those moments are. But sometimes we forget how precious we are to our children, too.
I've mentioned before about my story. I was adopted at just almost 8 years old after my mother's death took her from my brothers and I. We have very few photos of us with our mom. One of my prized possessions is a shot in the bluebonnets taken by my aunt that is so faded and worn and was a pixelated photo to begin with. I have one professional photo of her that I cling to, but I admit that a photo of her and I together that showed how much I meant to her would be everything to me. That is another reason I feel so strongly about family heirloom photography.
It is my privilege to capture my families' stories... to grab the grinning faces, the mischievous looks, the sweet hugs. I want to capture the features that make your family who you are. And then when it's all said and done, it doesn't matter what's posted on social media that flies down the newsfeed and is forgotten by tomorrow...
What matters is that you get to tell your story, read your story, enjoy your story through the family heirloom print products that will go into your home. Your walls adorned with the story of your family, and the fun you had on that day. The story in the album that can be passed down to your grandchildren one day could mean more than you know. All because you realized the importance of documenting your family's precious memories, of making them last forever.
